Steve is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) licensee, and the owner and principal financial advisor with Thalheimer Financial Planning, LLC since 2000. He has worked in Fee-Only financial planning since 1996 when he joined the staff of an established financial planning and wealth management firm. He left in 2000 to pursue his own practice. Before entering the field of financial planning, Steve worked in international economic development for 12 years, most of that time with the U.S. Peace Corps, both in the United States and abroad.
Steve lives with his husband in a 100-year old craftsman bungalow Silver Spring, MD. He enjoys cooking, supporting local agriculture through CSAs and farmers markets, biking, hiking, yoga and adventure travel.

To assist with its financial planning, TFP uses a team of external virtual financial planners run by a fee-only financial planner colleague, Susan Chesney. Sue is the owner of Delegated Planning, LLC, and is also a registered investment advisor and member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), as am I.
She has worked in the financial services industry for many years, including as a retirement plan specialist for securities clearing firm, as Western regional manager of the financial planning division of a nationally-recognized firm, and as a manager of the financial planning division of an independent Registered Investment Advisor firm based in South Carolina. She earned a BS from the University of Virginia and MS personal financial planning from the college of financial planning.
Lacey Garcia

Lacey Garcia is TFP’s virtual assistant, in charge of the day-to-day work on client accounts and services. Lacey is a Certified Financial Planner™ Professional with her own firm, BackOffice Resources, LLC in Dallas, Texas. She holds a bachelor of science degree in human development and family studies and a Master of science degree in personal financial planning from Texas Tech University. Lacey is an active member of the financial planning Association and sits on the board of the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter. She has over 10 years of experience handling client relationships and managing firm processes and workflows.
